CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. – A video showing two Republican state senators from St. Charles County using flamethrowers at a fundraiser is drawing fire around the world.Social media posts claim they are burning books. Those posts are false.Still, Democrats are using the claims and the video to boost fundraising.The Republican fundraiser, called Freedom Fest, was held Friday night at the Sugar Creek Winery in Defiance. One of the items being raffled was a flamethrower and then this happened.Missouri State Senators Nick Schroer and Bill Eigel tell FOX 2 they were asked to demonstrate the flamethrowers on a stack of cardboard boxes to boost interest in the raffle.A post on X (formerly Twitter) showed the video and claimed the senators were setting fire to a stack of books. The issue of banning books deemed pornographic from libraries has been a hot-button issue in Missouri. The post had drawn nearly 20 million views by Tuesday evening. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - Special agents with Homeland Security Investigations were involved in a federal operation on a metro St. Louis interstate.The federal agents and police officers with St. Charles had an SUV stopped on Interstate 270 between Olive and Page around 11 a.m. on Tuesday.The FOX Files spotted the operation, which involved a K9 and special agents pulling suitcases from the trunk of a vehicle. Southbound E-470 at Peña Boulevard is open after a tractor-trailer crash closed the highway for most of the afternoon, according to E-470 officials.A semi-truck crossing the center median caused the crash, breaking through the cable barrier into oncoming traffic and colliding with vehicles headed southbound, E-470 spokesperson Jessica Carson wrote in an email. The crash was first reported at 1:22 p.m., according to the Colorado State Patrol.The collision closed southbound E-470 but was easily detoured by taking the Peña exit, Carson wrote. A high-ranking official with the Los Angeles Police Department has been placed on administrative leave after allegations he used an Apple AirTag to stalk another officer he was allegedly in a romantic relationship with, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times. The officer who made the allegations against LAPD’s Assistant Chief Al Labrada said she found the tracking device in a waterproof Pelican box inside of her vehicle and that the device was traced back to his city-issued smartphone. She filed a report about the tracking device with the Ontario Police Department on Sept. 7. (AP) — Buddy Teevens, the innovative Ivy League football coach and former Stanford coach who brought robotic tackling dummies to Dartmouth practices, died Tuesday of injuries he sustained from a bicycle accident in March. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A lawsuit has been filed by a woman who says she bought coffee from a San Francisco McDonald's and was left with severe burns after the lid was not properly sealed over the drink. Mable Childress, 85, says she visited the McDonald's at 1100 Fillmore St. on June 13, 2023. She bought the coffee at the drive-through, according to the lawsuit, and the lid opened when she tried to drink it. The lawsuit claims that Childress suffered "severe burns and emotional distress." She has scarring on her groin area and is still feeling pain, though Childress' lawyer told KRON4 she is recovering nicely and the burns are mostly healed. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A Montgomery High School student in Santa Rosa was arrested Tuesday for bringing an imitation firearm to school, police said. The student is 14 years old.School officials called the Santa Rosa Police Department at 9:55 a.m. reporting that a firearm may be on campus. "A student posted a video on social media showing what appeared to be a firearm inside of an open backpack belonging to another student. Staff was able to quickly identify the student who posted the video, and the student who was the subject of the recording," SRPD wrote.Both students were immediately removed from their classes.SRPD officers discovered that one of the students brought an imitation firearm to school and hid it in his locker.
