ST. LOUIS -- Police are looking for a person who fired shots that ended up hitting a school and a parked car. They shared surveillance video in hopes of finding the suspect.St. Louis County Police say that someone wearing a black hoodie got out of a white sedan parked near the intersection of Kammerer and Frankfort Avenues Tuesday at around 1 p.m. They fired several rounds from a handgun northwest towards Frankfort Avenue before driving off.One of the shots hit the air conditioning system at Bayless Elementary School. The school was not in session and no one was injured. Another one of the shots hit a vehicle parked on Frankfort Avenue.Surveillance video captured a white Kia Optima speeding away from the intersection. Retired Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning spent $5.3 million in September to buy the house near his 16,000-square-foot Cherry Hills Village mansion.According to Arapahoe County property records, Wahoo Properties LLC bought the 3,582-square-foot home in the 3900 block of South Colorado Boulevard from the Beverly A. OLSEN AND KARL RITTER (Associated Press)STOCKHOLM (AP) — A ban on gasoline and diesel-fueled cars from a commercial district of Stockholm’s downtown in 2025 will be the first for a European capital, a city official said Thursday.The ban will take effect in a 20-block area of shops, pedestrian walkways and a few homes in order to curb pollution, reduce noise and encourage use of electric vehicles said Lars Strömgren, the city council member for the Greens who’s in charge of the Swedish capital’s transportation. Many European capitals have restrictions on gasoline and diesel cars, but Strömgren says Stockholm’s complete ban would be a first. “We need to eliminate the harmful exhaust gases from (gasoline) and diesel cars. That’s why we are introducing the most ambitious low-emission zone to date,” Strömgren told The Associated Press. An assault suspect who led authorities on a chase while performing stunts was taken into custody in Santa Monica Thursday afternoon. The driver was wanted on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. By 12:10 p.m., the driver was doing donuts in the Venice and Santa Monica area before continuing to elude authorities on surface streets. Police laid down a spike strip while the driver continued on surface streets, but the suspect drove right through it, aerial video from Sky5 showed. By 12:17 p.m. the driver continued on surface streets in Santa Monica, but it is unclear if police were still in tow. Minutes later, however, the driver ran over two additional spike strips.The driver eventually stopped and surrendered to police at Colorado Avenue and Euclid Court in Santa Monica, aerial video showed. Douglas Clark, a notorious serial killer and necrophile who terrorized Los Angeles in 1980, has died on California's death row, the state Department of Corrections announced on Thursday.Clark, 75, was serving six consecutive death sentences at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center. He passed away from "natural causes" at an outside medical facility on Wednesday, prison officials said.Known as one half of “The Sunset Strip Killers,” Clark and his accomplice, Carol Bundy, targeted vulnerable young women in Hollywood - often runaways and prostitutes. 25-Year-Old Los Angeles Man Killed in Rollover Crash near Pacific Coast HighwayMALIBU, CA (October 12, 2023) – Tuesday morning, a single-vehicle collision on Malibu Canyon Road left Luis Gonzalez dead.As per initial reports, the driver of the vehicle was heading north at approximately 12:20 a.m., just a mile north of Pacific Coast Highway.For reasons currently under investigation, the driver veered off the road and collided with two utility poles before descending down a cliff. (KRON) -- The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office launched a new Detox Program inside the county's main jail, Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City, to help inmates struggling with addiction."We are proud to introduce the groundbreaking Detox Program within our jail facility as part of our ongoing efforts to combat the fentanyl crisis in our community," Sheriff Christina Corpus said. Through blending medical expertise with compassionate care, the program aims to provide incarcerated persons with medical and mental health support to "overcome their addiction and reclaim control of their lives," the Sheriff's Office wrote. The goals of the program include reducing recidivism rates, boosting public safety, and transforming the lives of inmates suffering from substance abuse disorders. The Detox Program began helping inmates over the summer. It served 227 incarcerated persons in August, 217 in July, and 238 in June, according to the Sheriff's Office. (BCN) -- A vehicle hit a pedestrian in Pleasanton on Thursday morning, according to police.Pleasanton police said shortly after 9 a.m. that the collision happened near Vineyard Avenue and Adams Way. The Pleasanton Police Department is investigating the collision, which occurred at 7:48 a.m. According to witnesses cited by Pleasanton PD, a midsize SUV struck a crossing guard who was assigned to the intersection.Officers rendered aid to the victim and he was transported to a local hospital with head injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police said.Alcohol, drugs or distracted driving do not appear to have been factors, according to police.Investigators were still on the scene and police said roads in the area are expected to be closed for "several hours."
