(BCN) -- A new BART police chief has been selected after a nationwide search, according to BART General Manager Bob Powers on Sunday.Kevin Franklin is being promoted from interim chief to chief, Powers said. Franklin had been made interim chief in May."Chief Franklin is a life-long BART rider with an intimate knowledge of the system and its police department," said Powers in a statement released by the agency. He is not only detail-oriented, but a creative thinker with a deep commitment to our community. MIAMI (AP) — Jimmy Butler had a new look for Media Day, and the NBA world immediately took notice. The Miami Heat forward arrived for the team’s first official day of work this season with piercings — eye, lip and nose — along with a new hairstyle and his fingernails painted black. It’s become a trend of sorts for Butler, who went through the Media Day gamut last year with dreadlocks in a deviation from his usual look.“I’m very emotional right now. This is my emo state and I like this. This is me,” Butler said. “This is how I’m feeling as of late.”Teammates, it seemed, were caught a bit off guard. Heat center Bam Adebayo — who hadn’t seen his teammate before meeting with reporters — thought someone had photoshopped something when a reporter showed him photos of Butler’s look for the day.“That is not real. … That is (expletive) hilarious,” Adebayo said.Still unclear: If Butler will keep the look when Miami opens practice on Tuesday. NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. stocks are drifting Monday as the constrictor of higher interest rates tightens its coils around Wall Street. The S&P 500 was 0.2% lower in morning trading, coming off its worst month of the year. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 117 points, or 0.4%, at 33,389, as of 10:30 a.m. Eastern time, and the Nasdaq composite was 0.3% higher.Slumps for oil-and-gas stocks weighed on the market after crude prices gave back some of their sharp gains since the summer. The majority of stocks fell alongside them, but gains for Apple and some other Big Tech stocks helped to limit the market’s losses.Stocks have broadly given back about 40% of their strong gains for the year since the end of July. The main reason is Wall Street’s growing acceptance that high interest rates are here to stay a while as the Federal Reserve tries to knock high inflation lower. That in turn has pushed Treasury yields to their highest levels in more than a decade, which makes investors less...Muere Cecilia Priego, actriz de “La reina del sur”
