ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Sean Payton is a man in search of his mojo. Payton never lost five of his first six games during his 15 seasons as the New Orleans Saints coach and the Broncos have never started out worse than the 1-5 record they brought back to Denver after their latest loss to Kansas City.Payton’s play-calling and the Broncos’ execution weren’t good enough to capitalize on a suddenly stout Denver defense that limited Patrick Mahomes to a single touchdown drive Thursday night. The result was a 16th consecutive loss to Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs (5-1), this time by a score of 19-8.Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph has taken plenty of heat with the Broncos dead last in several statistical categories so far, and Payton deserves similar scrutiny after the Broncos’ bumbling offensive performance at Arrowhead Stadium on a night the Chiefs seemed ripe for an upset.Russell Wilson threw for a meager 95 yards, the third-lowest total of his 195 caree...French authorities link a school stabbing that killed a teacher to Islamic extremism

ARRAS, France (AP) — A man of Chechen origin who was under surveillance by French security services over suspected Islamic radicalization stabbed a teacher to death at his former high school and wounded three other people Friday in northern France, authorities said. France raised its threat alert to its highest level, and the attack was being investigated by anti-terrorism prosecutors amid soaring global tensions over the war between Israel and Hamas. It also happened almost three years after another teacher, Samuel Paty, was beheaded by a radicalized Chechen near a Paris area school. The suspected attacker had been under surveillance since the summer on suspicion of Islamic radicalization, French intelligence services told The Associated Press. He was detained Thursday for questioning based on the monitoring of his phone calls in recent days, but investigators found no sign that he was preparing an attack, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said. ’’There was a race against the clock....Black bear heads right to the freezer of a Connecticut home, steals lasagna

Those animals were exposed to human-sourced foods, such as trash, birdseed, or dogfood. Teenagers at Maimonides School in Brookline are putting on a brave face, but with war breaking out in Israel, this week was not an easy one.“It’s honestly been a very scary week. I have a lot of friends and some family in Israel,” said Deena Levin, a high school junior. “One of the scariest things is if you don’t get a text back or at night if they’re not on their phones because they’re sleeping. It can be very scary.”Many of the students have family in Israel. A local couple’s trip to see family recently took a terrifying turn, leaving the pair trapped in Gaza with their baby while the current war between Israel and Hamas continues. As millions of people are told to evacuate Gaza, hundreds of Americans are among those trapped. Wafaa Abuzayda is from Medway and is now begging for help. “Please save us,” she told NPR. “We have been trying to call the embassy since Saturday. Nobody is helping. Nobody is getting back to us.” Abuzayda was in Gaza visiting family with her husband and one-year-old child when the war broke out over the weekend. With supplies cut to and from the region, the family has been running out of diapers and formula. “It’s not safe,” Abuzayda said. “Yesterday, it was like a horrible night. We couldn’t sleep at all.” US officials estimate Abuzayda’s family is among upwards of 600 Americans stuck in Gaza.
