A mini market in Los Angeles sold the only ticket in the country to match all six numbers in the Wednesday night PowerBall draw.After the pot built for months, passing $1 billion dollars in reward, a single player in California walked away with the third largest PowerBall jackpot and sixth largest U.S lottery jackpot ever won.The jackpot sits right behind last year’s $2.04 billion record and and the $1.586 billion PowerBall jackpot won in 2016.The last time someone won the PowerBall jackpot was April 19, with a jackpot of nearly $253 million.As the jackpot grew, attracting players from all 45 states where the PowerBall is played, many players fell just short of the grand prize.According to a PowerBall news release, stores across the country sold 36 tickets that won $1 million and three tickets that won $2 million. A pair of suspects were arrested after stealing lottery tickets from a liquor store in Orange County and leading authorities on a very brief chase. According to the Seal Beach Police Department, the two suspects, identified only as Zoryon and Marcus of Long Beach, used a crowbar to smash the glass window of West Beach Liquor located in the 400 block of Pacific Coast Highway around 3 a.m. on Tuesday. A patrol car in the area heard the store’s alarm sounding and upon arriving on the scene, located the two suspects fleeing the scene in a black Nissan Altima. After a short chase, the suspects were arrested in the 100 block of Coastline Drive – about a block away – when they drove up a dead-end street. A local developer is appealing the approval of a new Costco warehouse to be built in north Brentwood.The Brentwood Planning Commission on June 20 gave the green light for the proposed new store south of Lone Tree Plaza and east of Heidorn Ranch Road.
