PITTSFORD, N.Y. (AP) — Brooks Koepka has his health back, along with his swagger. Now he gets another chance to restore his reputation as golf’s toughest customer in the toughest championships.Oak Hill was every bit of that on a rainy Saturday in the PGA Championship, and Koepka was up to the task. With three big birdies over the last seven holes, Koepka had a 4-under 66 — the low round at Oak Hill for the second straight day — to build a one-shot lead over Viktor Hovland and Corey Conners.“I like it when it’s difficult. Today was super difficult,” Koepka said. And then with the slightest grin he added, “I’ll take 4 under.”Now he has to finish it off, just like he did with such great poise when he won back-to-back in the U.S. Open (2017-18) and then back-to-back in the PGA Championship (2018-19), earning the rank of “Major Brooks.”This is his second straight 54-hole lead in a major. He was two ahead at the Masters until playing it safe in the final round and closin...

Some of the worst air quality in the world over the weekend along Front Range

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 16:33:08 GMT

DENVER (KDVR) -- If you spent any time outside Friday or Saturday you probably saw a thick haze in the sky. It's all due to smoke coming from large wildfires up in Canada. “Now we're on a streak of day two, tomorrow will bring more smoke and we will potentially see some of the worst air quality in the world not just the country," Pinpoint Meteorologist Liz McGiffin said Saturday. McGiffin explained the smoke comes in on a northeasterly breeze and then settles across the Front Range. She said the mountains to the west, not very visible on Saturday, work as a wall with the smoke not making it easy to push out. “It almost traps it in the Front Range as it pushes against the mountain range and that’s why areas like here in Denver, we notice the thick blanket of smoke," McGiffin said. "It’s like a fog at times where you can't see the mountains." Smoky skies cause poor visibility around Denver While Colorado is dealing with poor air quality, thousands of runners are expected to lace up...
