Karen Allen on one last hurrah as Marion Ravenwood in ‘Indiana Jones: Dial of Destiny’ NEW YORK (AP) — Indiana Jones. Karen Allen always knew he’d come walking back through her door. Since 1981’s “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” Allen has been only a sporadic presence in the subsequent sequels. But the glow of the freckled, big-eyed actor who so memorably played Marion Ravenwood has only grown stronger over time.Indiana Jones may be one of the movies’ most iconic characters, but he’s always needed a good foil. It was Kate Capshaw and Ke Huy Quan in “Temple of Doom” and Sean Connery in “The Last Crusade.” Yet none could top, or out drink, Allen’s Marion, a wisecracking, naturalistic beauty and swashbuckling heir to screwball legends like Katharine Hepburn and Irene Dunne.Allen’s place in the latest and last “Indiana Jones,” the just-released “Dial of Destiny,” has long been a mystery. Now that the movie is in theaters — spoiler alert — we can finally let the cat out of the bag. Allen returns. And while her role isn’...

Trader Joe's once offered delivery. Why did they stop? (NEXSTAR) – In 2023, you can get just about anything delivered straight to your door. But a bag of Trader Joe's groceries? No chance. The popular grocery chain doesn't sell any of its products online — not even gift cards — and doesn't work with any third-party delivery services, like Instacart. But that wasn't always the case. A small subset of Trader Joe's shoppers used to be able to have their groceries delivered. The company offered delivery at its New York City locations up until March 2019. Trader Joe’s addresses ‘conspiratorial theories’ about its small parking lots "When we originally introduced delivery, we had one store on 14th Street in Manhattan, options for outside delivery services were limited and ride-sharing meant hopping into a taxi with someone else," the company said in a statement to Supermarket News. "Today, there are seven Trader Joe’s stores across Manhattan, with more on the way, and services for transporting food and people abound."Trader Joe's stop...

California 'bridge house' sells for $180K over asking price (KTLA) – A unique home in Los Angeles County that captured the interest of California homebuyers — and started a wider conversation about the high cost of getting into the real estate market — has found a new owner. The home, located in Alhambra, was popular among home-seekers because of its modest (for California) price of $250,000. But it also made nationwide headlines due to its location: It's built into the side of a bridge that overlooks a drainage ditch. A one-of-a-kind real estate listing in Alhambra captured the attention of hundreds of prospective buyers after hitting the market in May 2023. (Douglas Lee Real Estate)The home isn't visible on Google Maps. The single-family residence is actually below street-level, accessible by a staircase that descends to the front door. Movie review: Nostalgic, yes, but ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ lacks adventure

Movie review: Nostalgic, yes, but ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ lacks adventure It’s been 15 years since we last encountered Indiana Jones, the whip-cracking archaeologist made iconic by star Harrison Ford, director Steven Spielberg, and George Lucas, who conceived of the story while seeking to update the classic adventure serial. Audiences fell for the brainy, blunt and brave Indy in his globe-trotting adventures explored in the original trilogy, which started with “Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark” in 1981. Even the fourth installment, arriving in 2008, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” was profitable, and warmly received despite its goofy story. It’s no surprise that in a filmmaking landscape where legacy sequels, or “legasequels,” roam the box office, the powers that be would take ol’ Indy out for another spin. Ford had returned to both “Star Wars” and “Blade Runner” to positive notices, so it made sense to get the band back together for one more gig, to see if there’s any juice left to squeeze. Enter “Indiana Jones and the D...

Neighbors unhappy with illegal RV park in Sylmar backyard Residents are concerned over an illegal, makeshift RV park behind a Sylmar home, with some saying the unsanitary conditions are posing major safety concerns. The residence is zoned as a single-family home which neighbors said is not meant to accommodate such a large number of people. Located on the 14000 block of Hubbard Street, the home in question appears regular out front, but just around the back of the residence are dozens of parked recreational vehicles, stacked side-by-side.Long-time neighbors said over the last few years, the number of RVs has grown significantly."It started with one, two, and then all of a sudden, she just kept adding more and more to her yard,” said neighbor Pablo Aguilar."There's one motor home, two motor homes,” said a neighbor named Cyndi. “Three years later there's, 20.""My concern with the RVs is where are they throwing all their feces?” asked neighbor Carmen Morales Cisneroz. Residents are concerned over a makeshift RV park behind a Sy...

LAX braces for record-high travel ahead of holiday weekend  A steady stream of travelers was seen at LAX Saturday morning, signaling the start of a busy travel weekend for July 4 celebrations. Millions of Americans are expected to hit the roads and the skies ahead of Independence Day, which falls on a Tuesday this year. And while some families may wait until a holiday that falls on a weekend to go on vacation, other families have decided to take the days ahead of July 4 off and travel for festivities.  Where to see fireworks shows in Southern California KTLA 5’s Erin Myers spoke with one family traveling to Kauai for the holiday, and while they said that their airport experience on Saturday morning was relatively easy, they know that the airport could have been much busier. “It’s not as bad as we initially anticipated,” said one of the family members traveling to Kauai. “We know with the delays going on, we got here a little earlier than usual, but it’s been fine so far.” Airports nationwide, including LAX, are exp...
